Favre breaks NFL's touchdown pass record

MINNEAPOLIS, United States (AFP) — Brett Favre's record-breaking touchdown pass on Sunday sparked a flow of tributes and praise from some of the greatest players to ever play in the National Football League.

The Green Bay quarterback broke Dan Marino's NFL record for career touchdown passes in the first quarter of the Packers 23-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

After Favre set the record, the jumbo screen at the Vikings' Metrodome facility played a message from Marino.

"Right away it didn't hit me that it's finally over and done with," Favre said. "Maybe 30 seconds later it kind of hit me that that's the record."

The Packers quarterback tossed the 421st touchdown pass of his career with a 16-yard strike over the middle to Greg Jennings with 4:56...
