Sprinbok coach urges Wales to appoint former Australia coach

MONTPELLIER, France (AFP) — Springbok coach Jake White is backing the claims of Eddie Jones as the next Wales coach amid speculation that the former Wallabies' mentor may be in line to take over from sacked Gareth Jenkins.

Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Roger Lewis, in announcing Jenkins's resignation on Sunday, said his union has started a worldwide search for a new head coach.

Immediately, Jones, who has been co-opted to help White prepare South Africa at the World Cup in France while also working for the Saracens club in London, was linked with the Welsh national coaching vacancy.

White believes Jones would be a strong contender for the Welsh job.
