O.J. Simpson loses Rolex in civil case

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Former American football star O.J. Simpson was ordered Tuesday to relinquish his Rolex watch to satisfy a civil suit that found him liable for the deaths of his ex-wife and her friend.

A judge in Santa Monica, California ordered Simpson to hand his watch and future royalties from a Simpson sports video game to the father of Ron Goldman, the friend of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown, as part of the 33.5 million dollar judgment.

Simpson, who has always vehemently denied killing the two, was acquitted of murder after a Los Angeles trial in 1995.

But he was subsequently found liable for the deaths in a 1997 civil suit and was ordered to pay damages to the victims' families totaling 33.5 million dollars.
