Disney theme park set for 1 bln dlr facelift

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Disney confirmed plans to upgrade attractions at its California Adventure theme park in a bid to boost visitor numbers at the facility, the company said Wednesday.
A statement said the entertainment giants planned to expand the site -- part of its world famous Disneyland park -- six years after it opened in 2001.
No figure was given for the make-over but reports have said the company is to spend more than one billion dollars revamping the park.
California Adventure, which was intended to pay tribute to Californian history and features adult-oriented rides, has struggled to win over visitors at its site next door to Disneyland in Anaheim, outside Los Angeles.
