Motorcycle tyre decision postponed to next week

SEPANG, Malaysia (AFP) — Controversy over the proposed single tyre brand rule for the 2008 MotoGP season will continue until next week after officials announced Saturday that no final decision will be made in Malaysia.

"It will not be made today. It has been postponed to next week," Mike Trimby, secretary-general of the International Road Racing Teams Association (IRTA), told AFP.

"A few things need to be resolved. So it was decided not to finalise today in Malaysia," he added, without elaborating.

IRTA looks after the interests of all the teams in the MotoGP championship.

MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna proposed the single tyre rule in Motegi, Japan last month.
