NFL Dolphins ditch Green after injury

MIAMI (AFP) — Trent Green, the 37-year-old Miami Dolphins quarterback who has not played since suffering a concussion two weeks ago, was dropped from the National Football League club's active roster Saturday.

The move came a day before the winless Dolphins face undefeated New England and a week before Miami will meet the New York Giants in London and it could mark the final NFL farewell for Green.

The veteran signal caller was injured when trying to block Houston's Travis Johnson, who slammed his knee into Green's helmet.

"I appreciate the way the organization has handled this," Green said. "I realize this is in the best interest of my long-term health and I want nothing but the best for the team.
