Redknapp signs new Portsmouth contract

PORTSMOUTH, England (AFP) — Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp signed a new contract on Monday that will keep him at Fratton Park until 2011.
Redknapp, 60, is enjoying a successful second spell at the club and has been rewarded for lifting them into the top half of the Premier League.
Portsmouth enjoyed their best campaign for over 50 years last season and Redknapp has built on that by leading them into seventh place this term.
Redknapp said: "I'm delighted. Since returning to Fratton Park I have had nothing but the utmost support from owner Sasha Gaydamak and chief Peter Storrie.
"They have backed me 100 percent in the transfer market and I am genuinely excited about the group of players I have here with me now.
