Knee injury comes back to haunt Frings

BREMEN, Germany (AFP) — German international midfielder Torsten Frings faces another spell on the sidelines with a right knee problem it was revealed on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old Werder Bremen star said that he felt pain in his right knee - the same knee which kept him out for several weeks at the beginning of the season - during Saturday's Bundesliga match with Schalke 04.
"During the match against Schalke 04, I again felt pain in the knee," said Frings, who was a member of the German side that reached the World Cup semi-finals last year, though he was suspended for the last four clash with Italy.
"The scans confirmed that it is the same injury as in the summer."
