Ash from California wildfires hampers Mickelson

SINGAPORE (AFP) — Ash he inhaled from the California wildfires continues to hamper Phil Mickelson, but despite slumping out of contention in the Singapore Open he vowed to return to Asia after an enjoyable week.

The world number two's California estate escaped the ravages of last month's fires which engulfed his neighbours' homes, but he is still struggling to shake off the effects of smoke and ash inhalation.

"I've been losing my voice this last week with the ash from the fires in California and I kept expecting it to go away and it never did," said the American multi-millionaire who had to flee his San Diego home.

"On Friday I was up all night struggling but I had some great help from the doctors here and I felt much better today after some antibiotics. I...
