Thailand rejoices as king leaves hospital

BANGKOK (AFP) — Thailand's revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej left hospital Wednesday to cheering crowds of well-wishers shouting "Long live the king" as the nation rejoiced at his recovery.
The monarch was admitted mid-October after experiencing weakness on the right side of his body. Doctors diagnosed irregular blood flow in the brain and he was also treated for an intestinal infection.
He can now walk unaided for short distances following treatment and exercises to strengthen the right side of his body, the Royal Household Bureau announced.
"Physicians asked him to continue the exercises for a period of time until his muscles fully strengthen," it added.
