McCartney's wife splits with lawyers in divorce case

LONDON (AFP) — The estranged wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney has split with the lawyers representing her in the couple's high-profile divorce case, the law firm confirmed on Friday.

News of the split comes days after Heather Mills gave a series of print and television interviews mentioning the divorce, claiming she had received death threats and urging a boycott of British tabloid newspapers.

"We are not representing her any more," a spokeswoman for law firm Mishcon de Reya said, adding the firm did not discuss client matters.

McCartney, 65, and Mills, a 39-year-old former model and activist, are in the midst of an ugly divorce, having been involved in legal proceedings since last May, when they announced their five-year marriage was over.
