Spencer takes jockey's title to the limit

LONDON (AFP) — Irishman Jamie Spencer left it to the last race of the flat racing season to share the champion jockey title with veteran Seb Sanders.
The 27-year-old Spencer grabbed a double to 36-year-old Sanders one winner at Doncaster on Saturday to draw level for a sum total of 190 winners in the campaign and become the first joint winners since Steve Donoghue and Charlie Elliott in 1923.
It was agony for Sanders as he had to sit out the final race when his ride was declared a non runner and Spencer, who won the title outright in 2005, took full advantage guiding Inchnadamph to an eight-length triumph.
