Colts all-star Freeney sidelined for season

INDIANAPOLIS, United States (AFP) — Three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney will undergo season-ending surgery on his left foot, the Indianapolis Colts announced on Wednesday.
Freeney, who is Indianpolis' all-time sack leader with 60, suffered a Lisfranc injury - a fracture and dislocation of the midfoot region - early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Freeney has 3 1/2 sacks this season.
The Colts made Freeney the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history this summer when they signed the 2002 first-round pick to a six-year, 72 million dollar contract.
