Japan's Asada claims second GP win in Paris

PARIS (AFP) — Japanese star Mao Asada fought off US rivals Kimmie Meissner and Ashley Wagner to claim her second Grand Prix victory of the season here on Saturday.
Asada, 17, came back following a fall on her opening attempt at a difficult triple axel in her free skate to Chopin's Fantaisie Impromptu, to nail nine jumps including five triples.
The world silver medallist returned to the scene of her first success here in 2005, and after her victory in Skate Canada assured herself a place in next month's elite six-woman Grand Prix final in Turin.
Most of her rivals tumbled, but her 179.80 points was enough to secure victory ahead of former world champion Meissner who also fell during her routine to Puccini's Nessum Dorma.
