Lehmann accused of making indecent gesture to fans

BERLIN (AFP) — Jens Lehmann was accused on Sunday of having made an indecent gesture to German supporters calling for him to be replaced by locally-based goalkeeper Robert Enke during Germany's 4-0 win over Cyprus.

German media reprinted stills taken from television that appeared to show Lehmann raising his middle finger to part of the crowd in Hanover while scratching his head.

The Arsenal keeper had just managed to clear his lines, which was followed by fans chanting the name of Hanover goalkeeper Enke, who was on the bench.

"I never made this gesture," said Lehmann, who was winning his 50th cap.
