William Shatner surprised by 'Star Trek' snub

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — William Shatner, best known for playing Captain Kirk in "Star Trek", has spoken of his surprise at not being offered a cameo role in the latest movie version of the cult science-fiction show.
But the 76-year-old Canadian actor -- who skippered the USS Enterprise during the 79 episodes that aired between 1966 and 1969 and in the seven films that followed -- says he expects the new "Star Trek" blockbuster to be a hit.
"How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected?," Shatner told US entertainment television program "Extra."
"That doesn't make good business sense to me!" he said in the interview to be screened later Wednesday.
