Eriksson says Asia will produce world's next great footballers, report

BANGKOK (AFP) — Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson says he expects Asia will produce one of the world's next great footballers of the likes of Diego Maradona.
The former England coach spoke to the Bangkok Post after wrapping up a tour of Shanghai and Bangkok, where he announced a series of partnerships with clubs and training academies in China and Thailand.
"I am sure one day -- and that day will come very soon -- a new Elano or Maradona will come from an Asian country," he told the paper, referring to City's talented Brazilian midfielder and the former Argentina star, regarded by some as the best player of all time.
