Bruce feeling blue over Wigan delay

WIGAN, England (AFP) — Steve Bruce rounded on his former club Birmingham City when giving his first news conference as Wigan Athletic manager at the JJB Stadium here Monday.

The former Blues boss admitted the delay between his departure from Birmingham, three points above second-bottom Wigan in the Premiership, "left a bitter taste in the mouth," after a row involving the repayment of advance funds paid to Bruce by City.

Although the issue has been resolved, Bruce said he was angry by the way in which it had become public.

"It's become a bit of a laughing stock," he told Sky Sports News. "But things in contracts should, I believe, remain private and it was unfortunate it was addressed in the media.
