NBA Celtics romp as Knicks sink lower in basketball league

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AFP) — Paul Pierce scored 21 points and Ray Allen added 16 as the Boston Celtics humiliated the New York Knicks 104-59 in a National Basketball Association rout here Thursday.

Only a 54-foot desperation heave for a basket by Nate Robinson at the final buzzer allowed the woeful Knicks to avoid a franchise-record low point total.

"That was embarrassing. No way around it. No excuses. That was embarrassing. Unfortunately sometimes things like this happen," Knicks guard Jamal Crawford said. "But you have to bounce back. We haven't quit on the team. It was just a bad game.
