Phelps wins again while more US swim marks fall

ATLANTA, Georgia (AFP) — US swim star Michael Phelps won his second individual race since breaking his right wrist in October, taking the 100-yard freestyle here Saturday at the US Short Course Nationals.

Phelps, whose bid to break US swimmer Mark Spitz's record of seven gold medals at a single Olympics will be a major story in Beijing next August, won the 100-yard free in 42.14 seconds with Jason Lezak second in 42.46.

Phelps, who on Friday won the 200-yard freestyle and also helped Club Wolverine set a US 4x200-yard freetsyle relay record, suffered the injury when he slipped getting into a car at the University of Michigan.
