Everton chairman frustrated by oppponents to stadium plans

LIVERPOOL (AFP) — Everton chairman Bill Kenwright voiced his frustration after fans of the club criticised his plans for the future of the Goodison Park club which could see the Premier League side move from their Liverpool home.
Kenwright, who owns Everton, was branded "the man who has murdered the soul of the club," by even thinking of moving the Toffees to a new 55,000 seat stadium in nearby Kirkby, a satellite town to the north-east of Liverpool.
The plan, which would see Everton join forces with British supermarket giant Tesco, has enraged many fans even though the proposed venue is only some 15 minutes by car from the centre of Liverpool.
Plenty of supporters would like to see Everton stay at Goodison or, failing that, move to a site close to the city centre on Scotland Road, as suggested by Liverpool City Council.
