Golfer Woods widens gap at Target Challenge

THOUSAND OAKS, California (AFP) — Tiger Woods extended his lead at the USPGA Target World Challenge by shooting a five-under-par 67 in the third round on Saturday.
Woods leads fellow American Jim Furyk by six shots and Zach Johnson by seven at the Los Angeles-area Sherwood Country Club course.
Woods, who is at 18-under (198), missed breaking the tournament's 54-hole record by one shot.
Woods began the day with a four-stroke advantage over Furyk and came out with plenty of spark with birdies on his first two holes, building his lead to five shots.
Woods made a bogey on the fourth hole and Furyk made birdie to cut the lead to three. Woods built it back to four shots with another birdie on No. six.
