HK Disneyland's visitor figures drop 23 percent: government

HONG KONG (AFP) — Visitor numbers at Hong Kong Disneyland fell close to 23 percent in its second year of operation, government figures seen Tuesday showed, as concern mounts over the theme park's performance.
The attraction, which opened in September 2005, drew more than four million visitors in the second year, down from 5.2 million in its first year, the report to Hong Kong's Legislative Council said, without giving precise numbers.
"While recognising that the Hong Kong Disneyland is in its early start-up operating phases, the government, as the major shareholder ... is not satisfied with the performance of the park," said the report, which is to be discussed by legislators Friday.
