LISBON (AFP) — Former Portuguese international midfielder Luis Loureiro ended a painful spell with Cypriot side Anorthosis on Wednesday when he signed for Portuguese championship strugglers Boavista.
The 31-year-old signed a contract which will see him at the club till the end of the 2008/09 season.
"I wanted to return to Portuguese football," explained Loureiro, who was accused of being lazy by the Anorthosis coach.
"I feel good here and I really want to work hard," added Loureiro, who won all six of his caps while with Gil Vicente.
Aside from Gil Vicente Loureiro also played for Sporting Braga, Russian outfit Dynamo Moscou and Sporting Lisbon.
He is likely to be joined at the club - who are 13th in the table with just 13 points - by Colombian Brayan Angulo.
