NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AFP) — Roydell Williams, who shared the team lead for the Tennessee Titans with 55 catches, suffered a broken right ankle during a workout and will be lost for the American football playoffs.

The team announced Thursday that Williams underwent surgery on Thursday after being hurt during a practice session Wednesday.

Williams' loss comes on the heels of the loss of Bo Scaife, the Titans' third-leading receiver, to a liver injury and the earlier loss of receiver Brandon Jones to a season-ending groin injury.

While the Titans receiving unit will be depleted for Sunday's playoff game at San Diego, Tennessee will also have injury issues with the man who launches the passes.
