WASHINGTON (AFP) — Roger Clemens is ready to answer questions under oath before US lawmakers about his former trainer's claims that the star pitcher used performance-enhancing drugs, if he can make time to testify.

Rusty Hardin, Clemens' attorney, said the famed Major League Baseball hurler welcomes speaking at a January 16 session before a US House of Representatives oversight committee that will include his accuser, Brian McNamee.

"Roger is willing to answer questions, including those posed to him under oath," Hardin said in a statement. "We hope to determine shortly if schedules and other commitments can accommodate the committee on that date."
