Belhadj makes nostalgic return to Lens

LILLE, France (AFP) — Out of favour Lyon utility player Nadir Belhadj ended his short and unhappy spell with the six-time French champions on Sunday when he signed a three-and-a-half year contract with French rivals Lens.

The 25-year-old - who can play leftback or in midfield - signed for Lyon last January for 3.4million euros from Sedan but was loaned back to them for six months to help them avoid relegation from the Second Division last term.

This season Belhadj has found it difficult to break into the Lyon first team as he has been second choice to Italy World Cup winning fullback Fabio Grosso and midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.
