Michael Vick transferred to Kansas jail

ATLANTA, Georgia (AFP) — Disgraced National Football League quarterback Michael Vick has been transferred from a Virginia jail to one in Kansas in a move which could see his sentenced reduced.

Vick's lawyer, Billy Martin, said Monday that Vick is being moved to a federal prison in Leavenworth, Kansas.

"Mr. Vick hopes to participate in programs offered at that facility, including the Bureau of Prisons drug treatment program," Martine said.

"Mr. Vick looks forward to being reunited with his family upon completion of his sentence. He is hopeful that following his release he will have the opportunity to resume his career as a professional football player."
