NEW YORK (AFP) — Major League Baseball adopted a series of new security measures in response to the league's recently completed probe into the use of performance-enhancing drugs by its athletes.
"These security and logistical changes are important steps in combating the illegal use of performance-enhancing drugs," commissioner Bud Selig said.
"Major League Baseball is pleased to act on the recommendations made by Senator (George) Mitchell as part of its ongoing clubhouse security procedures."
MLB instituted number of logistical and security changes, including madatory drug tests and background checks for clubhouse workers.
The American and National League teams will be required to maintain a written record of all packages sent to clubhouses.
