Falcons turn to perfect Patriots for rebuild help

ATLANTA, Georgia (AFP) — Thomas Dimitroff, scouting director for the undefeated New England Patriots, was named Sunday as general manager of the Atlanta Falcons, who will rebuild after a woeful American football season.

The Falcons struggled to a 4-12 National Football League finish after star quarterback Michael Vick was sent to prison for his role in a dogfighting ring and coach Bobby Petrino departed in December for the University of Arkansas.

It will be Dimitroff who is responsible for hiring Petrino's replacement even though interviews with several candidates have been conducted before his hiring.

"I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity," Dimitroff said.
