Clemens likely to give deposition to lawmakers: report

NEW YORK (AFP) — Embattled Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens likely will give a sworn deposition and provide a tape of an interview with his accuser to US lawmakers, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

Clemens' lawyer, Rusty Hardin, met Monday with Keith Ausbrook, a general counsel to the House of Representatives Oversight Committee, and after talks told the Times that Clemens was set to cooperate without facing a subpoena.

"I don't foresee any difficulties," Ausbrook said. "I think everything's going to work out agreeably."

Hardin was primarily concerned that Brian McNamee, Clemens' former trainer who says he injected the star pitcher with steroids for several years, would have the chance to see the deposition or hear the tape before making his...
