Predators' Sullivan won't play this NHL season

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AFP) — Nashville Predators left wing Steve Sullivan won't play this National Hockey League season as he recovers from two back surgeries, the team said.

Predators general manager David Poile on Tuesday said that Sullivan, 33, won't see action this season. He had two back operations in the offseason.

Sullivan hasn't played in a game since February 22 because of a back injury, and had his second surgery on August 25.

At the time he was expected to miss three months, with is return slated for December.

Poile said the team hopes Sullivan will be able to return next season.

Sullivan, who recorded 22 goals and 38 assists in 57 games in 2006-07, missed Nashville's final 20 regular-season games as well as its Western Conference...
