GLASGOW (AFP) — Former Liverpool and Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has had an interview with the Scottish Football Association to discuss their vacant manager's position.

It has been reported that Souness, who has been out of the game since leaving Newcastle in February 2006, wasn't interested in taking charge of the Scotland national team but he insisted he would love the job.

"I have been interviewed by the SFA. The interview was conducted in a very professional manner and I want the job," Souness told the Scottish Mail on Sunday.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee and Celtic assistant coach Tommy Burns are also believed to have held talks with the football governing body, while Southampton's George Burley is the other name on the four-man shortlist.
