Congress postpones Clemens' deposition date

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US lawmakers on Thursday postponed Roger Clemens' scheduled deposition slated to take place before next month's Congressional hearing on doping in baseball.

Clemens, the seven-time Cy Young Award-winner who has vehemently denied allegations of steroid use, had been due to meet members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Saturday to give a desposition prior to the formal hearing scheduled for February 13.

On Thursday, the committee released an updated schedule of depositions and interviews with Clemens re-scheduled for February 5.

The committee had asked Clemens, ex-teammates Andy Pettitte and Chuck Knoblauch to submit to depositions, along with Clemens' ex-trainer and accuser Brian McNamee and steroid supplier Kirk...
