Philippine President Arroyo woos investors on Dubai visit

DUBAI (AFP) — Philippine President Gloria Arroyo urged Emirati businessmen to invest in her country during a visit on Sunday to the booming Gulf emirate of Dubai, which has been on an overseas investment spree.
"I thank you for your kindness to our Filipino workers, but today, most of all I am interested in getting your investments to the Philippines," Arroyo told a business lunch hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The chamber's board chairman Obaid al-Tayer told AFP he believed the Philippines is a viable destination for Emirati investments, especially in tourist resorts, saying it offered "stability for investors."
