Tottenham sign Woodgate

LONDON (AFP) — Tottenham Hotspur signed England defender Jonathan Woodgate from Premier League rivals Middlesbrough on Monday, the London club announced.
In a statement on their website, accompanied by a photograph of Woodgate wearing a Spurs shirt, Tottenham said: "We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Middlesbrough for the transfer of Jonathan Woodgate."
It appeared the 28-year-old was on his way to Tottenham, 11th in the table, after Newcastle all but gave up on bringing Woodgate back to St James' Park where he played before joining Real Madrid in 2004.
