Lakers revive NBA title talk as Gasol joins Bryant

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Spanish playmaker Pau Gasol finally has the pressure of great expectations in the National Basketball Association now that he has helped excite Kobe Bryant about staying with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Gasol joined the Lakers here Sunday but was only a spectator as they played Washington, the 7-footer having not practiced with his new teammates and their triangle offense that has brought coach Phil Jackson nine NBA titles.
"It's still a little early," Gasol said. "I'm still trying to believe what just happened. I'm really excited and trying to digest everything I'm going through, the great opportunity I have and what I can bring to the Lakers."
Gasol is expected to don his new number 16 jersey Tuesday at, appropriately, New Jersey and Jackson expects him to be at full speed on the Lakers' attack after the NBA All-Star Game in two ...
