NAIROBI (AFP) — The United States is preparing to impose a visa ban on Kenyan officials who played a role in the violence that erupted after disputed elections, the US ambassador has told a Kenyan daily newspaper.

"We have identified a number of people that could potentially be subject to these visa restrictions," Ambassador Michael Ranneberger told The Standard in an interview published Tuesday.

Under the measure, "any perpetrator, supporting or inciting violence, and their families would not be issued visas" to travel to the United States, he said.
