RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) — Veteran Brazilian striker Romario has quit as player-coach of Vasco da Gama after an argument with club president Eurico Miranda.

"It's all over with me and Vasco," the 1994 World Cup hero said prior to his side's 2-0 cup win over Friburguense

Romario had been enraged by Miranda's insistence that he play striker Alan Kardec in place of the youthful Abuda.

Miranda said he was disappointing with Romario's decision but he confirmed that he had ordered him to play Kardec.
