SKorean lovers getting stingier on Valentine's Day

SEOUL (AFP) — South Koreans wary about the economy have decided that money can't buy them love on Valentine's Day this year, a report said Thursday.
Imports of expensive chocolates for Valentine gifts fell sharply while imports of cheaper chocs and other candies rose, the Korea Times reported.
It said customs figures showed that imports of Swiss chocolates plunged 64 percent in January, along with similar falls from other expensive exporter nations.
But cheap chocolates from China recorded a 20 percent growth in imports, and the import of cheap candies also rose, the paper said. It attributed the trend to fears about the stock market plunge and rising inflation.
