Rangers pull away after Killie win

GLASGOW (AFP) — Rangers restored their four-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League table with a 2-0 win away to struggling Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Carlos Cuellar's first-half goal sent Rangers on their way to victory at Rugby Park before Kris Boyd, playing against his old club, ensured the visitors would be collecting all three points with a 63rd minute penalty.

It was an important result for Rangers on two fronts.

Firstly it gave them a cushion over second-placed Celtic, who had narrowed the gap with a 3-0 win against Hearts on Saturday.

And Boyd's goal was a signal to Rangers manager Walter Smith he was ready for the second leg of their UEFA Cup tie away to Panathinaikos on Thursday after a goalless midweek draw against the Greek side...
