Nakamura leads Japan swimming Open

TOKYO (AFP) — Olympic bronze medallist Reiko Nakamura continued her record-breaking form at the Japan Open short course swimming championships Sunday by setting a new national best in the 100-metre backstroke.
The 25-year-old, who broke the 200-metre world record on Saturday, clocked in at 58:08 seconds for the 100-metres, beating the previous best of 58.10.
But despite her time, which saw her beat Hanae Ito and Aya Terakawa into second and third respectively, Nakamura said she could have done better.
"Today, I was disappointed with my time, because I aimed to swim under 58 seconds, but I'm determined to salvage it in my next races," she said.
