Key man in "Spygate" nears deal to talk to NFL

NEW YORK (AFP) — National Football League officials are nearing a "Spygate" deal to speak with former New England Patriots videotape assistant Matt Walsh.

Walsh, who has sought indemnification from the NFL, said last month that he has potentially damaging information to the Patriots about the perennial title-contending team's videotaping history.

The testimony would be crucial to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's probe into allegations that the Patriots, the NFL's greatest recent dynasty with three Super Bowl titles in the past seven seasons.
