Kahn granted a Bayern-Germany testimonial

BERLIN (AFP) — Former Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has been granted a testimonial game between the German national side and Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in September, it was announced on Tuesday.

Kahn, 38, will retire at the end of the season and having captained his country to a World Cup final has been granted a testimonial by the German Football Federation (DFB) on Tuesday September 2.

"Oliver Kahn is an outstanding sportsman and an unusual person," said DFB president Dr Theo Zwanziger.

"The 2002 World Cup, where he was voted the player of the tournament, is one of his best achievements.

"And at the 2006 World Cup he handled a difficult situation well."
