RIYADH (AFP) — King Abdullah is to pay for two Iraqi conjoined twins to be transported to Saudi Arabia for medical tests to determine if they can be separated, state media reported on Friday.
King Abdullah has authorised specialist surgeons in the oil-rich kingdom to examine the boys once they arrive from the Iraqi city of Mosul, the official SPA news agency reported, without giving dates.
It said the one-month-old pair are linked at the stomach and chest.
In the past 15 years, several successful operations have been carried out in Saudi Arabia to separate conjoined twins. The surgery has been carried out at King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Riyadh.
