LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Four men were shot dead at a California car salvage yard in what police described as a workplace shooting, it was reported on Wednesday.
Police in Santa Maria, around 160 miles (255 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles, said the shooting occurred at around 4 pm (2300 GMT) on Tuesday, the Santa Maria Times reported.
The gunman, whose identity has not been released, tried to flee the scene of the shooting but was later captured. No information about the victims has so far been released, reports said.
"This is a case of workplace violence," police chief Danny Macagni was quoted as saying by the Santa Maria Times, declining to elaborate on the details or the motives of the gunman.
A press conference will be held later Wednesday, police told AFP.
