Phillips keeps Baggies in promotion hunt

LONDON (AFP) — Kevin Phillips's 21st goal of the season kept FA Cup semi-finalists West Bromwich Albion very much involved in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League as they fought back to draw 1-1 away to Charlton Athletic at The Valley here Friday.

The draw left the Baggies in fourth place, four points behind leaders Stoke and second-placed Bristol City, who currently occupy the two automatic promotion places from the Championship, but with a game in hand.

Greg Halford put Charlton ahead with a header on the half hour before veteran striker Phillips levelled 11 minutes later with a fine finish.

Albion might have had all three points late on had not Zoltan Gera hit the woodwork late on but Charlton held on for a draw which saw them move up...
