Shuttle Endeavour set for landing at Cape Canaveral

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AFP) — Weather conditions at Kennedy Space Center were good for shuttle Endeavour's landing Wednesday, NASA said, after a record-setting mission that attached Japan's Kibo laboratory to the International Space Station.

NASA's mission control at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, gave the green light for the shuttle's cargo bay doors to close at 1926 GMT, the first step toward deorbiting at 2201 GMT, if the good weather holds over Florida.

"The weather forecast remains a go for landing," a NASA official said shortly before the order to close the doors was given.

The Endeavour and its crew of seven astronauts, two of whom are returning from months' long stints on the ISS, are scheduled to land at Cape Canaveral half-an-hour before...
