LONDON (AFP) — Britain's BT Group, BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse are mulling bids for the British arm of Italian telecoms company Tiscali, the Financial Times reported on Friday without citing its sources.

Tiscali, which is based in Cagliari, has attracted takeover interest in the past but said on Monday that it had not received any formal offers for the whole group or for individual assets.

The group appointed JPMorgan and Banca IMI as financial advisers on Monday after its board allowed new chief executive Mario Rosso to find ways of "maximising the strategic value of the group."

Tiscali has around 2.4 million customers for its high-speed Internet services in Britain.
