Shane is Ospreys' Ronaldo, says Wales Rugby Union skipper

LONDON (AFP) — Flying Welsh winger Shane Williams has been compared to Manchester United's soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Sunday's European Cup quarter-final trip to Saracens.

While the Portuguese winger has been banging in the goals in the Premier League, Williams has been making the rugby headlines.

After being named Six Nations player of the tournament and breaking Gareth Thomas' Wales try-scoring record in the Grand Slam clincher against France, Williams has continued his scoring streak with the Welsh region.

He claimed a brace of tries in the Anglo-Wales Cup semi-final victory over Saracens and the Celtic League triumph over Ulster last weekend.

"He is our Cristiano Ronaldo," Wales captain Ryan Jones told the South Wales Echo.

"He is on fire at the moment. You give him a sniff of an opportunity of a try at the moment and he will score."
